Coffee Party? Seriously?
It appears that the Tea Party is really making a difference . . . and that the left has become seriously unhinged by our influence and power. So much so that they’ve decided that two can play that game and have launched a Coffee Party (h/t Allahpundit). Seriously.
It all started with the noble and high-minded intention of “really piss[ing] [us] off”:
let’s start a coffee party . . . smoothie party. red bull party. anything but tea. geez. ooh how about cappuccino party? that would really piss ‘em off bec it sounds elitist . . . let’s get together and drink cappuccino and have real political dialogue with substance and compassion. (via WaPo)
Let’s see: genuine grassroots uprising of patriots across this nation compelled to speak out against the “fundamental transformation” of America (I guess defending our Constitution is not substantive?) vs. um, some bratty lefties whose stated purpose is to anger us? Weird.
Left Coast Rebel quickly and easily exposed this “spontaneous” movement as astroturf (h/t Another Black Conservative). Funny how this “spontaneous” group emerges on the 23rd of February, only a day or so after we hear that BO’s 2012 campaign has kicked off. Bratty lefties or Organizing for Obama 2.0? Either way . . .
I honestly don’t know what else to say except . . . Seriously?

I can’t believe (well, I can, really) that the Post bothered to cover this.

It’s a pretty smooth looking website, and they have close to 25,000 members already (since Tuesday). If it’s part of BO’s 2012 campaign, it would do well to keep an (amused) eye on it, no? If it’s just silliness designed to make us angry, well, that’s just . . . silly. What’s to get angry about? In fact, why are they so angry about the Tea Parties?

Because without us and our brash conservative angst, they likely would’ve had their progressive dream of single-payer by now. And they have the nerve to say we’re astroterfing?

[...] Awww…Lefties feel left out, heh, and have created their own party: a Coffee. And they called us astroturfers, eh? More from Fuzzy at the Potluck. [...]

It’ll fail. We have a much better sex act nickname that the Left / Mainstream Media can’t stop repeating. You ever heard of anyone enjoying “coffeebagging”? Me, either.

heh, that may actually play a part in their failure. The left is best at ridicule and nastiness, and to keep something like a grassroots movement going, you need more than vitriol and a goal of making someone angry.

I liked Michael Barone’s take on this: Cuttlefish squirts out ink in the Post

Yes, that’s a good point about “inclusivity” and one that applies not only to the “coffee party” but to most liberal endeavors.

Don’t they already have “Organizing for America?
They could be honest about their Socialist tendencies and give themselves the acronym S.O.F.A. (Socialists Organizing For America).
I’m just sayin’…
Of course, in the theme of Cifford’s “sex act” comment, we could call them the dunkin’ (dough) nuts party…
