New Tone Poll For Week Of May 1-6

Sanctimonious liberals love to blast conservatives for their “vitriolic discourse”, yet often fail spectacularly to maintain basic civility in their own discourse. The New Tone Award is reserved for left-wing notables who wallow in this hypocrisy. The list, this week, is smaller than usual because most libs have been too busy gushing about Obama’s “gutsy call” to go after conservatives with their usual vigor. Chris Matthews, most notably, has been able to balance his leg-tingling enthusiasm for the president with vicious Republican-bashing rhetoric.

New Tone Nominees For Week Of May 1-6

Democrat Rep. Gary Ackerman doesn’t waste a second taking a swipe at President Bush:

Dem Congressman: This Is “Mission Accomplished Moment” Bush “Fantasized” About…

Condescending Harry Reid: Marco Rubio ‘Has to Understand Who He Is and Who He Represents’

Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) speaking to a Latino internet news service launches into a condescending reproach to his fellow senator from Florida. The ethnic implication of Reid’s remarks bring to mind his statement from the 2010 election when he declared “I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican.”

Hard-Left Radio Host Mike Malloy: When Will Navy SEALs Take Out Death-Dealing George W. Bush?

But Iraq — all the death in Iraq was not caused by bin Laden. The death in Iraq was caused by George W. Bush. Five thousand Americans, tens of thousands permanently damaged and shot to pieces, a million Iraqis dead — that wasn’t bin Laden. That was George Bush. So when does Seal Unit 6, or whatever it’s called, drop in on George Bush? Bush was responsible for a lot more death, innocent death, than bin Laden. Wasn’t he, or am I wrong here?

HHS Secretary Sebelius: Under Ryan Budget Plan Seniors Will “Die Sooner”…

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said that the Ryan Medicare proposal will lead to early deaths among seniors.

During testimony before the House Education and the Workforce Committee, she said seniors “will run out of money very quickly.”

She continued, “If you run out of the government voucher and then you run out of your own money, you’re left to scrape together charity care, go without care, die sooner. There really aren’t a lot of options.”

Chris Matthews Dreams Up Silly GOP Debate Questions: Do You ‘Fundamentalist’ Christians Hate Science?

On Thursday’s Hardball, hours before the first GOP face-off, the cable anchor dreamed up hypothetical queries he would like to see: “Question to Mr. Candidate, do you believe in evolution? Are you a fundamentalist who believes in the Bible as written? Has man been around millions of years or, say, just about 6000?

Chris Matthews Bizarrely Mocks Rush Limbaugh as a ‘Walrus Underwater’ for bin Laden Response

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews on Wednesday mocked Rush Limbaugh’s response to the killing of Osama bin Laden, deriding the conservative as a “walrus underwater.” Matthews also made an odd grunting noise to back up this description.

While Hyping Barack Obama’s Killing of bin Laden, Chris Matthews Lashes Out at ‘Sadist’ Dick Cheney

Former Newsweek editor Howard Fineman contrasted the Bush/Cheney administration’s dropping of bombs in Iraq with Obama’s actions. Matthews responded by mocking, “There’s a difference between being cold blooded- I think presidents have to be cold blooded- and being a sadist.”

As if his point wasn’t clear, the liberal anchor interrupted Fineman to add, ” I was referring to Cheney, of course.”

Poll: New Tone Nominees For 4/16-4/22

Lefties love to blast conservatives for their “vitriolic discourse”, yet often fail spectacularly to maintain basic civility in their own discourse.   The New Tone Award is reserved for liberal notables who wallow in this hypocrisy.

I had thought that with this being Holy Week, I’d have to scale down my poll to fewer than the usual ten entries, but boy, was I wrong. Nothing can stop the left’s assault on human decency, not even the holiest week on the Christian calendar. One of our nominee’s even used Holy week as a pretext to attack and insult the tea party.

I generally ignore left wing websites because who has the time (or the stomach) to slog through their bile on a daily basis. But Wonkette really distinguished itself, this week, and deserves some special recognition. After this week, maybe I’ll  make Wonkette an honorary all time New Tone winner, so I don’t have to bother with them, anymore.

    New Tone Nominees For 4/16-4/22

Paul Krugman on civility Jan 2011: “violent acts are what happen when you create a climate of hate. And it’s long past time for the GOP’s leaders to take a stand against the hate-mongers.” Krugman April 2011: “Civility is the Last Refuge of Scoundrels”

At the beginning of last week, the commentariat was in raptures over the Serious, Courageous, Game-Changing Ryan plan. But now that the plan has been exposed as the cruel nonsense it is, what we’re hearing a lot about is the need for more civility in the discourse. President Obama did a bad thing by calling cruel nonsense cruel nonsense; he hurt Republican feelings, and how can we have a deal when the GOP is feeling insulted?

    Krugman last January:

You know that Republicans will yell about the evils of partisanship whenever anyone tries to make a connection between the rhetoric of Beck, Limbaugh, etc. and the violence I fear we’re going to see in the months and years ahead. But violent acts are what happen when you create a climate of hate. And it’s long past time for the GOP’s leaders to take a stand against the hate-mongers.

MSNBC guest David Cay Johnston suggests that Paul Ryan’s admiration for Ayn Rand makes him pro-terrorist.

“You know, Congressman Ryan requires his staff to read Ayn Rand, whose fictional hero, Howard Roark, is a man who blew up a building because it wasn’t built exactly to his specifications as the architect,” Johnston said. “I mean, that’s the kind of society we want where our leaders say, not only are we taking from the sick and poor but we’re going to hold out as a model people who commit felonies like blowing up buildings. We really need to dig into understanding the kind of people who would put forth these ideas.”

Ed Schultz Again Calls Republicans Liars Before Lying Himself

Not surprisingly, the guy that just seconds earlier said, “Republicans have been lying about tax cuts for years” claimed it was Democrats that held spending in check when Clinton was President.

I guess he forgot that Republicans took over Congress in 1995 and that they’re the ones that held Clinton’s spending in check for six of his eight years.

Jack Steuf at Wonkette Makes Fun of Trig Palin, Calls Him “Retarded”

What’s he dreaming about? Nothing. He’s retarded.

    […]

His mom went to a lot of trouble to leak amniotic fluid over 8 states to make sure that he arrived in this world somewhat alive,”

    […]

Enjoy yourself today, Trig. Have fun! Get drunk (on purpose this time)! We can hardly wait for 15 years from now, when you will finally be able to vote and will be sent off by your mother’s junta to fight the Union in the Great Alaska War. It’ll be quite a loss. You’re the smartest one in that family.

University Prof. Sends Vulgar E-Mail to College GOP: ‘Fu** You!’

When the College Republican club at the University of Iowa sent out a university-approved blast e-mail regarding its “Conservative Coming out Week,” one professor took umbrage with it. And she let the group know it with three some simple words: “Fu** You Republicans!”

Ellen Lewin, a professor of Anthropology and Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies in the Department of Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies, was outraged at the club‘s playful rundown of the week’s events, which included a friendly blood drive competition between Republicans and Democrats “for a good cause.”

Joy Behar: Bill O’Reilly Needs to Be Smacked Around

“Well, he is little bit intimidating as you say,” Behar remarked to MacLaine confirming her . He bullies you a little bit, I think. I felt that.” At the end of the segment MacLaine insisted that O’Reilly needs a motherly figure like Joy Behar to control him. “To smack him around,” Behar added, and MacLaine agreed.

On Faith’ Contributor, liberal theologian Susan Brooks Thistlethwaite,Calls Paul Ryan Budget Supporters to Repentance This Holy Week

Christian evangelicals who support the Ryan budget that hurts the poor and rewards the rich as the ‘Gospel according to Ayn Rand’ have some soul searching to do and Holy Week is a good time to do that.

“I think it’s fair to say that their vision is radical,” Obama told a town hall gathering at the headquarters of Facebook, the huge social network company.

“I don’t think it’s particularly courageous,” he said of the GOP plan to convert Medicare to a voucher program and make big cuts to the federal-state Medicaid program for the poor.

Bonus: Later, at a privaate fund-raiser in San Francisco, Obama scolded and blamed “climate change deniers”

In a tweet, Wonkette announces that their former advertiser, Papa John’s, is not only “shitty,” but “homophobic.”

Homophobic = not giving gays a pass on every nasty thing they say or do. That is the only possible definition of the word he can be using to get to this conclusion.

The site was just as gay when Papa John’s was advertising on it before. The only difference is that they posted that nasty Trig post.

So the only conclusion that can be drawn is that the gentleman scholars at Wonkette believe that only homophobes could ever hold gays responsible for their actions. Truly enlightened people give them a pass on everything.

    Because they’re gay.

Homeland Security’s outgoing communications chief, Sean Smith threatened to “f—ing decapitate” the staff at the immigration office press shop.

After some back-and-forth among the staff, Smith sent an email to Nantel and her deputy Richard Rocha with the following:

“I swear to f—ing god I am going to come over to ICE and f—cking decapitate every single person in both the press shop and leg shop,” he wrote. “Not only does Eileen have all this information, she also knows the NYT has it. Only 3-4 people knew that, and most of them are on this email chain.”

He ended the note with, “John, we need to talk about the future of your press shop.” The last part was directed toward John Morton, the director of ICE who was copied on the email along with a few other officials.

Chris Matthews: Tea Partiers Just Want to Cut Funding to the Poor

“Well, the only cuts that they seem to want are the cuts to the poor people….you’re laughing because you know how right-wingers think.”

Poll: New Tone Nominees For Week Of 4/09-4/15

Lefties love to blast conservatives for their “vitriolic discourse”, yet often fail spectacularly to maintain basic civility in their own discourse.   The New Tone Award is reserved for liberal notables who wallow in this hypocrisy. Details about what each nominee said to deserve being singled out for this dubious honor, can be found below the poll.

After several weeks of doing this, we are starting to see some repeat offenders, and this week, one individual really distinguished himself by earning two slots in the poll.

Poll: New Tone Nominees For Week Of 4/09-4/15

Ed Markey (D-ranged): GOP “Trying To Destroy The Whole Wide World”

Some choice derangement from his rants about GOP legislation to stop ‘net neutrality” and stop the EPA from regulation greenhouse gases without Congressional authority:

    • the GOP is trying to shut down the Internet
    • GOP stands for “gang of polluters”
    • Republicans are trying to destroy the World Wide Web
    • Republicans are trying to destroy the whole wide world
    • from smokestacks belching massive amounts of dangerous global warming pollution
    • human health (from a trace gas necessary for most life on Earth) should be our priority
    • these two evil legislative twins would pull us in the opposite direction

Tingles: “30,000 People Will Die Because of Paul Ryan’s Budget”…

In an interview with actress Ashley Judd about health issues in Africa, Chris Matthews declares 30,000 people will die because of the Paul Ryan plan.

Bill Maher To Rachel Maddow On The GOP: ‘I Hate Them As Much As You Do’

After spending nearly thirteen minutes venting about the Republicans, in the final few seconds, Maher simply concluded, “I don’t know what to say about these people Rachel, I hate them as much as you do.”

Dem Rep. Loretta Sanchez Says Congressional Tea Party Republicans Are Unintelligent For Caring About The Constitution…

DNC Chair Wasserman Schultz: GOP Budget Plan Kills Seniors

Republicans’ budget plan would put seniors’ lives at risk, the incoming chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) said Thursday.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the Florida congresswoman tapped by President Obama to lead the DNC, said she stood by her characterization of Republicans’ 2012 budget as a “death trap” for seniors.

When pressed on whether she intended to say that the GOP budget put seniors’ lives at risk, Wasserman Schultz doubled down.

“That’s exactly what I’m suggesting,” she said during an appearance on CNN.

Olbermann: S.E. Cupp Should Have Never Been Born, Proves ‘Necessity’ of Planned Parenthood

Olbermann posted this on Twitter: “On so many levels she’s a perfect demonstration of the necessity of the work Planned Parenthood does RT @meow_6 #worstpersons S.E Cupp bashing PP on Joy Behar last nite. http://j.mp/hktGUX”

Jim Wallis Says Paul Ryan Is a Bully & Hypocrite Who’s Never Been Around Poor People and Has No Courage

“Paul Ryan is acting like a bully. Bullies pick on people who have no clout. He’s not picking on the people who have the real money. He’s not asking his rich friends to sacrifice. He’s Acting like a bully.  This has to be said out loud.”

Chris Matthews Mocks Fox News as a ‘Roach Motel,’ Admits He’s Gone Easy on Colleague Donald Trump

Hardball’s Chris Matthews on Thursday slammed Fox News as a “roach motel” for possible presidential candidates, knocking the chances of that network’s analysts, Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin. Yet, the MSNBC anchor, who obsesses daily about the so-called birther issue, admitted he hasn’t been as tough on Donald Trump as he could. (Trump, of course, hosts The Apprentice on parent channel NBC.)

Democrat New Tone: Pa Politician Asks If She Can Kill A Colleague, ‘Blow His Brains Out”

…the debate was about the expansion of the Castle Doctrine in Pennsylvania, an expansion that would give more citizens the right to protect themselves from attack. Representative Davidson was attempting to make a point on how she felt the Castle Doctrine was a dangerous law and to illustrate her point she made reference to Representative Daryl Metcalfe (R, Butler County). Metcalfe is a strong Second Amendment supporter and one of the chamber’s conservative members.

In open debate, right on the floor of the House, Davidson said, “If the gentleman from Butler County stood yelling, knowing that he’s a gun-toter, and I felt threatened, would I be protected under court law if I blew his brains out.”

After this outrageous utterance, the Pilly Inquirer’s John Baer reports that Rep. Davidson was so pleased with herself she “giggled.”

Poll: New Tone Nominees For Week of April 2 – April 9

The left loves to blast conservatives for their “vitriolic discourse”, yet often fail spectacularly to maintain basic civility in their own discourse.   The New Tone Award is reserved for liberal notables who wallow in this hypocrisy.

New Tone Nominees For Week of April 2 – April 9

Howard Dean Tells College Students Fox News Lies – Then Lies to Them Four Times

“What Fox News says is often not true, and they know it’s not true and they say it anyway. It is not a news organization. It is a very expensive, incredibly well-funded, right-wing propaganda organization.”

Dean continued to drive this point home claiming that the reason so many Fox viewers believed Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11 was because “they were lied to every single day on virtually every program on Fox News.”

Video With Cheney Fighting For Breath Leaves Mika Laughing

Today’s Morning Joe played a Letterman clip of a faux-promo for an imaginary TV show called “The Dick Cheney Story.”  As the title song from the Mary Tyler Moore Show plays merrily in the background, we’re treated to images of Cheney wielding a gun, in a wheelchair and undergoing open-heart surgery.  The clip closes with video of Cheney fighting to get a breath of air.Cut to Mika, doubled-over, laughing hysterically, literally to the point of tears.
During the question-and-answer period, Olbermann told a student who identified himself as a College Republican,  that “most conservatives are wildly stupid.”

“Little piggies go to market, and clean up on Aisle 5,” the article’s online headline snarked.”Repulsion may or may not be the show’s ultimate intent, but it stirs up unsettling and complex thoughts, not only about the sins of gluttony and pride, but also about the production and consumption of cheap, processed food,” Stuever insisted. “There’s also something to snack on for those of us fretting over an ever-widening wealth gap amid dwindling resources.”

The path that the Republicans are taking to achieve this is what we call in the media, what I’ve called in the media for a long time, a dead demographic story. What is a dead demographic story? A dead demographic story is it only affects them old folks! And them young folks ain’t gonna be paying attention to it! The 18-to-34, the 25-to-49 crowd. Medicare? What the hell’s that?! I’m trying to keep my job, man! What are you talking about?! That doesn’t catch my attention! But it catches the attention of the almost dead!

Jim Moran Snaps at Veteran: “Sit Down, or leave”:

Moran’s contempt shines through right from the moment he begins speaking, saying, “And if you served your country in the military for 27 years, I thank you for that service, sir.”  Is it so unusual to find a military veteran in Moran’s district that his gratitude has to come with a qualifier?  Does Moran employ the qualifier for veterans who ask questions along the lines of “How can you be so totally awesome and humble at the same time?”  He then insults the constituent by claiming that his question was “caustic” rather than “legitimate,” prompting the veteran to interrupt — and Moran to act like an old schoolmarm when he does.

Rep. Louise Slaughter: GOP Freshmen Came to Washington ‘To Kill Women’

“This is probably one of the worst times we’ve seen because the numbers of people elected to Congress. I went through this as co-chair of the arts caucus,” Slaughter said. “In ’94 people were elected simply to come here to kill the National Endowment for the Arts. Now they’re here to kill women.”

“There is actually a war on women,” the California Democrat said Thursday in Washington, taking aim at House Republicans’ efforts to defund Planned Parenthood and restrict access to abortions, among other measures.

“We are absolutely outraged. This is the functional equivalent of bombing innocent civilians,” she said.

“It’s time that the District of Columbia told the Congress to go straight to hell!”

On MSNBC, Dem Sanchez Tries To Drown Out Republican With ‘Broke Because of Bush’ Chant

During an interview on MSNBC this morning on the subject of the budget and possible government shutdown, the Dem congresswoman from California tried to drown out her Republican colleague from New York, Michael Grimm, by chanting “broke because of Bush.”

Sadly, Moron I mean Moran belongs to me. He has nothing but contempt for the military and the people who serve(d). The guy who ran against him was retired military and he said really degrading things about his service. What is the absolute worse thing is that the dems in his district don’t even like him, but they are so progressive here that they will cut off a body part before voting for a republican. He will leave only leave the congress in a box.

    Help Stop Obama

http://www.raisingred.com,  a new conservative fund-raising website, was launched yesterday with the  mission is to raise money in support the Republican nominee to defeat President Obama in the 2012 presidential election.

John Hawkins, of Right Wing News, who helped create the organization, is asking conservatives to  “chip in some money, pass around the web page, and do your part to help get this PAC going.”

Launched by the activist team of Charlie Smith, former College Republican National Committee President; Kellen Giuda, New York City Tea Party co-founder and former Tea Party Patriots Board of Directors member; and conservative Blogger John Hawkins, Raising Red PAC and Raising Red Action Fund were born from a need for an innovative and forward-thinking political operation focused on candidates that will solve the problems that have been passed on to the Millennial Generation by decades of irresponsible politicians.

Charlie Smith, founder of Raising Red and former College Republican National Committee President said, “Yesterday, President Obama launched his re-election campaign, we want him to know that the results of the 2010 election were no fluke. The American people are fed up with his big-government agenda, and we’re not going to just sit around and watch while he drives this country into insolvency.”

In a political environment dominated by social and online technology, vibrant citizen activism, and new changes in campaign finance law, Raising Red PAC is focused on empowering concerned Americans to support a Republican nominee that will defeat and replace President Obama in the 2012 election, one in which the president is expected to raise $1 billion for his re-election effort.

“Our generation, our entire country, cannot afford four more years of the Obama administration’s debt-ridden agenda,” said Kellen Giuda, NYC Tea Party co-founder. “After leading tea parties and tea party rallies across the country since 2009, it’s clear that the time has come to channel that energy and take our country back. Raising Red gives us the tool to do that.”

Times are tough, but they’re going to get a lot tougher if we don’t stop this Cloward/Piven-driven, economy crushing wrecking ball we currently have as President. Please give if you can.

New Tone Nominees For March 26- April 1

The left loves to blast conservatives for their “vitriolic discourse”, yet often fail spectacularly to maintain basic civility in their own discourse.   The New Tone Award is reserved for liberal notables who wallow in this hypocrisy.

Soros-Funded Media Matters Declares “Guerilla War” on Fox News…

The liberal group Media Matters has quietly transformed itself in preparation for what its founder, David Brock, described in an interview as an all-out campaign of “guerrilla warfare and sabotage” aimed at the Fox News Channel.

Anthony Weiner insults Iowa Tea Party on Twitter:

@RepWeiner:  Perhaps the best thing of the week. The Iowa tea posse stops brushing their tooth long enough to boo me. #ilovehowcrazyimakethem

Bill Maher Calls Sarah Palin a Vagina Again – This Time Beginning With a ‘C’

According to the Dallas Voice, this happened on Sunday while Maher was “performing” at the Winspear Opera House (photo courtesy Reuters):

It’s that fearlessness — he acknowledged that some people would probably be uncomfortable with some of his remarks about religion, not to mention calling Sarah Palin a “cunt” (“there’s just no other word for her”).

Ed Schultz: ‘Are You With The Terrorists, Or Are You With The President Of The United States?’

Republicans are attacking the Commander-in-Chief during a time of war! . . . There should be no debate: we ought to be kicking [Gaddafi’s] ass . . . Whose side are you on? Are you with the terrorists, Sarah, or are you with the President of the United States? . . . And I have to ask the question tonight: where is the patriotism from all of these war-hawks? Where’s the patriotism of the Republican party? . . . What about being a patriot?

    (more pathetic than uncivil).
Now, in all fairness, I had been warned about this because if anything can be compared to your 88-year-old Republican mother who raised you Catholic explaining to you how her bird masturbates, I don’t know what’s more disturbing. In my personal opinion, she sort of did what he does with his arms, except she had trouble with the word. She’s like, oh Stephy, what’s the word, masturbate. I was like, oh, I know, wow.

In this universe of unreason, two plus two can equal anything you want and heaven is not only real but anything you want it to be. At age four, the inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality is charming. Among American adults, widespread identification with the mind of a preschooler is scary.

New York Senator Chuck Schumer was caught on tape Tuesday instructing his Democratic colleagues on how to spin the media with regard to “extreme” Republicans and their budget cuts. “I always use extreme…That is what the caucus instructed me to use,” Schumer blurted.

There’s semantic nonsense, really, about regime change, because the fact is it’s almost as if the phrase, regime change, has been tainted by the big, greasy paws of Dick Cheney.

Barney Frank: Bachmann ‘Cuckoo’, Tea Party Doesn’t Understand Constitution

“as with Congresswoman Bachmann and some others – when you’re talking about people who sometimes inhabit cloud cuckoo land and in cloud cuckoo land, yeah that could be the case.” Frank also said “the Republicans are so frightened by the Tea Party, that their leadership has backed away from an effort to compromise.”

“The thing that sticks in my mind, I guess, more than anything else — and this is something that has happened. My wife teaches first grade. This past week, one of the kids in her class, a little first grader’s dad is getting sent to Afghanistan. And he was really sad. And she said, ‘Eell, you know, your dad is doing something really good. He’s going to a country where people there are trying to take away the freedoms of other people there, keep them from living a good life. So he’s leaving to do something good.’ And one of the little girls in class just on her own — and this has never been talked about in class, because my wife doesn’t do that — said, ‘It’s kind of like Mr. Cheatham, he left to make our schools better.’ And when I heard that, that gave me a reason —”

Poll: New Tone Nominees For Week of March 20-26

The left loves to chastise conservatives for their “vitriolic discourse”, yet often fail spectacularly to maintain basic civility in their own discourse. The New Tone Award is reserved for liberal notables who demonstrate that double standard.

Bill Maher, for calling Sarah Palin  a ‘dumb twat’:

“Did you hear this – Sarah Palin finally heard what happened in Japan and she’s demanding that we invade ‘Tsunami,’” Maher said. “I mean she said, ‘These ‘Tsunamians’ will not get away with this.’ Oh speaking of dumb twats, did you –”

…there’s a certain brand of evangelical Christians who believe in Revelations, that Armageddon is coming, and that will happen in Israel basically….but that’s why they like Israel. That’s why they want Israel to be strong. It’s not because…It’s not because they like Jews or Israelis.

“You’re trying to take up our time getting us to defend your friend Sarah Palin. If you keep us busy defending her, we have less time to defend women’s bodies from the onslaught of reproductive rights attacks and other threats to our freedom, safety, livelihood, etc,” wrote Bennett. “Sorry, but we can’t defend Palin or even Hillary Clinton from every sexist insult hurled at them in the media. That task would be impossible, and it would consume us. You know this would not be a productive way to fight for women’s equal rights, which is why you want us stuck in this morass.”

Joy Behar for lying about Reagan’s AIDS record during her HLN Elizabeth Taylor tribute:

She didn’t like Ronald Reagan’s politics. She knew the Reagans and she was friends with them, I think, but she didn’t like his politics. And here is the reason, I think, because as the AIDS crisis began in 1981, and Reagan couldn’t even say the word “AIDS” until 1987, after 40,000 people had died from the disease.

They’re just looking for opportunities to cheap shot the President. The people who were criticizing Bush had a coherent, had coherent reasons to criticize him. It wasn’t like that. There was coherence to the point of view, where as here, I think you’re exactly right. They would just be trashing him whatever he did, and it feels that way. It feels cheap, it feels shallow.

We have to think much more creatively. The key thing… What does the other side fear the most – they fear disruption. They fear uncertainty. Every article about Europe says in they rioted in Greece the markets went down

The folks that control this country care about one thing how the stock market goes what the bond market does how the bonuses goes. We have a very simple strategy:

    • How do we bring down the stock market
    • How do we bring down their bonuses
    • How do we interfere with there ability to be rich

“Not since the dark days of the Bush administration have we seen a Republican-controlled Congress that is so intent on pushing their agenda in Washington — protecting tax breaks for oil companies making record profits, attempting to roll back environmental regulations, and not only refusing to pass climate change legislation in any form but refusing to acknowledge that climate change even exists,” Gore wrote in a fundraising pitch for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).

Dem Rep. Gary Ackerman and MSNBC’s Cenk Uygur for agreeing that opposing Obama is “unpatriotic”…

On his MSNBC show this evening, Cenk Uygur suggested that opposition to President Obama’s Libya policy is “unpatriotic.” For good measure, Dem congressman Gary Ackerman stated that opposing the president is “cheering for the wrong team.”

Way too many people dismiss special needs children, it is very heartwarming to see it being spotlighted in this way. I personally don’t watch American Idol, but enough do that it may just change one mind. That is all we can do; change one mind at a time. Because special needs children bring so much wonder to their families and their communtites.

Video: Seton Motley With The Best Explanation Of Net Neutrality That I’ve Seen

I get email alerts from this guy, Seton Motley, of Less government, and Stop Net Regulation, all the time. He’s ringing alarm bells about the FCC’s plan to ram Net Neutrality down our throats on December 21st, in another big government power grab.

If a pre-Christmas power grab has a deja-vu quality to it, that’s because Dec. 21st is when Harry Reid chose to force an ObamaCare vote in the Senate, last year; a rush to vote on legislation that would effect 1/6th of the US economy.

Now, it’s the internet, big government ghouls want to get their hooks into:

This is a last minute, behind closed doors, unreviewed, un-Public Commented upon, under cover of Christmas government takeover of 1/6 of our nation’s economy. The only portion of the economy that is actually still functioning in the midst of what is otherwise is a doldrum-laden Obama Recession.

Not coincidentally, the Internet remains perhaps the only major portion of the economy President Barack Obama has not yet assaulted with oppressive legislation and/or regulation. A fact that will remain true – for another eight days.

Seton explains how Net Neutrality would work in this video:

    Aside:

While looking for Motley’s Less government website, (under construction?), I discovered a site that almost looks like a parody, but sadly isn’t:

    Government is Good

Why We Need More, Not Less, Government

In the face of increasing threats to our wellbeing and the inability of the market or individual efforts to effectively address them, we need to expand public sector programs.

Written by a professor of politics, of course.

You can buy your pro-big government merchandise, here, (if you have any money left over after paying your taxes).

Video: Unable To Answer Question, Counterterrorism Chief, John Brennan Storms Out Of Washington Times Office

When White House counter-terrorism adviser John Brennan visited the Washington Times Editorial Board last June to talk about  a June 11 Washington Times editorial he objected to, it didn’t take long for him to get stumped on a question, and cut the meeting short.

The question referred to his definition of (the banned word),  jihad, which he claimed, last May, was a “legitimate tenet of Islam.”

Today, Kerry Picket at the Washington Times posted the amazing video:

Video: Epic Cat-Fight As Megyn Kelly Shreds Kirsten Powers

A great companion piece to Anne’s post, below.

Megyn Kelly has been covering this story for weeks, and knows the facts. Kirsten knows what Media Matters has put out for the official left-wing response: “This is no big deal”…”Bush did it, too”….”the case was downgraded…” …. Simper simper simper….

Megyn is having none of it:

This was GREAT! She made mincemeat of that empty-headed leftie. Kirsten did what all liberal loons do, sort of condescended about the whole thing . . . aw, look at the cute little black man with his stick, just let him be. Typical. They honestly believe in their own superiority to the extent that they indulge racism from people they see as their inferiors. It’s sickening.

    Happy 4th of July!

We had our 2nd Annual Kansas City Independence Day tea party on Saturday, and a good time was had by all:

More pictures and full report at Nice Deb.

I received this via email from the Tea Party Patriots:

Matt Perdie has walked across America from New York south to Georgia and then west to California. As he walked across the country, he carried a US flag and talked to people he met about liberty, the Constitution, and our founding principles.  Many of your Tea Party and 912 groups have hosted Matt as he made his way across the country.

Tomorrow, Tea Party Patriot, Matthew Perdie, will complete his 3600 mile walk from the Eastern tip of Long Island to the Santa Monica pier on July 4th at 6PM PST!!    This will be the most dramatic, emotional and important “Tea Party” story of the Holiday.

    Illustr8r at iOWNTHEWORLD says:

If you are in southern California and are able to go cheer Matt on a little bit today or tomorrow, please do so!

How many many or you will be lucky enough to sing The Battle Hymn of the Republic  in church, today? I won’t. For the umpteenth time in a row, I get to sing “The Prayer of St. Francis” for our 4th of July Mass. We don’t even get to sing America the Beautiful. I can’t tell you how much this annoys me.

Anyway, here’s Orson Wells explaining the historical background of the Battle Hymn of the Republic:

Definitely no argument from me on the number 1 pick; he’s hotter than hot (and wicked talented and wicked smart). Was glad to see Governor Christie on the list, too; he’s definitely got something going on. And I’ve always had a bit of a thing for Tucker Carlson, too (though I miss his bowties and think that libertarian stuff gets a bit much at times).

And yeah, they missed a couple I’d have included (stretching the list past 20, so probably why they weren’t included?): Clifton over at ABC is a hottie, so is Bill Whittle. I’m sure there are others but I can’t think of them right now.

CA Art Teacher Deems Drawing Of American Flag, “Offensive” – Praises Drawing Of Barack Obama

I know, I know…Obama won, we lost, get used to it – Welcome to Obama’s America.

    Offensive and unacceptable

Todd Starnes from Fox News Radio reports:

Tracy Hathaway, of Salinas, CA, told FOX News Radio her 13-year-old daughter was ordered to stop drawing the American flag and start another project at Gavilan View Middle School.

“She had drawn the flag and was sketching the letters, ‘God bless America,’ when the teacher confronted her,” Hathaway told FOX. “She said, ‘You can’t draw that – that’s offensive.’”

Even more striking, another student in the same art class drew a picture of President Obama and was praised by the teacher.

“The picture of Barack Obama was in red, white and blue hues,” Hathaway said. “ The teacher said it was great. But when it comes to the flag – all of a sudden it was offensive?”

Hathaway said she took her concerns to the principal – and he was “floored” and apologized for what happened. He arranged a meeting with the Hathaways and the teacher.

“My husband point-blank asked her what she found offensive about the picture – the American flag or the words, ‘God Bless America,’” she said. “The teacher didn’t say a word.”

The superintendent  told FOX  that he had contacted the principal and that the issue “was taken care of to their (the parent’s) satisfaction.”

“The school administration and the parents did not view this as significant enough to bring it to the superintendent’s office,” he wrote.

You can read his entire written statement at the link.

It seems the parents found the issue significant enough to bring it to the attention of Fox News. Moreover,  Hathaway says her daughter has not yet received an apology, and in fact, the art teacher told her that she shouldn’t have gotten her parents involved in the matter.

Why does this teacher still have a job?

This is absolutely ridiculous. There has been a long-waged war against both God and America in this country, but it seems to be picking up pace, doesn’t it? Between this ridiculous art teacher (I agree, this person should not be in a classroom), the kids being told to turn their tee-shirts inside out because of the “offensive” American flag, and those poor seniors who cannot say a prayer before a meal because some of the nursing home money comes from the feds, I’m pretty much fuming.

If the seniors are receiving social security, does that mean they have to burn their bibles and denounce God and Jesus? Do we once we’re all forced on a government healthcare plan and receiving “government aid”? Where does this madness stop?

      • Sherry 12:52 PM on 05/10/2010 Permalink | Reply

It does not. It is by design, to eliminate all but Government as our god.

“If the seniors are receiving social security, does that mean they have to burn their bibles and denounce God and Jesus?” Heh.

The idiots sure seem to be coming out of the woodwork. Who would imagine that a group of people couldn’t say grace over food that was federally funded? And that art teacher — !

One good thing: People aren’t taking this kind of thing lying down. We can thank Obama for raising the consciousness of Americans, including kids, who are sensitized to government overreach, and fed up with it.
