Quote of the Day – Paul Ryan Edition Part 3
Poverty is winning the war on Poverty.
Sad, but true. Especially when it comes to women and children.

The human side of the loss in the war on poverty is seen at the grocery store: a 300 lb mom with a spilling over grocery cart, paying with the food stamps debit card; the dirty, raggedy, skinny husband behind her in line with 2 suitcases of beer and 2 packs each of his and her brands of cigarettes he pays for with cash while their oldest child watches the herd of youngins running around the falling-apart minivan in the parking lot !
A lady who works in a Social Services office relayed how a young woman demanded her welfare check, “Three generations of my family haven`t worked and I`m not about to be the first ! Give me my check !”

That is a broad generalization and caricature of the poor.

Be that as it may, it is the image I see most often and that they project !
The only ones “I see” receiving a gov. welfare-type benefit who are at all bothered by their situations are single Moms on the WIC program, having troubles selecting the right brands of milk and cereals, etc. from the very limited list of approved items. Almost all of them have an embarrassed expression while those on food stamps appear to love to “slide that card”.
Observation – NOT judgement !
