Doing the Right Thing and Being Punished

The claws have come out for Charles Ramsey.  Apparently he has an arrest record for domestic abuse and has spent time in jail.  There is no excuse for what he did, none.  But he has done his time and it doesn’t seem that he has had any recent issues.  He says that he has grown up and all involved have moved on.  I am not going to make excuses for what he did, but what exactly does that have to do with him helping those earlier this week?  He was given a chance to help those young women and he did it.

To say that it is a no brainer simply isn’t true.  Years back in Baltimore, Maryland there was a woman who lived in a neighborhood that was infested by gangs, drugs, and violence.  She decided to take a stand to get her neighborhood back.  She caused a great deal of problems for the local hoodlums and helped the police when she could.  She helped close down a crack house.  Shortly after that incident she was found murdered in broad daylight not too far from that same crack house.  This happened in the middle of  the street.  Not one person will admit to seeing anything.  Her murder is unsolved.  It likely will remain so.

We have developed into a society of apathetic people for exactly this reason.  It seems that no good deed goes unpunished in these times.  We are hearing that at least a few of the neighbors heard strange noises and saw strange things.  Some say that police had been notified and they ignored the claims.  It is very possible.  But it is also very possible that those neighbors didn’t want to get involved.

Simply doing the right thing and helping your fellow-man isn’t a reason for people to dig into your past and talk about all the skeletons in your closet.  We all have them.  Everyone one of us have done something that we would not wanted to see printed in major newspapers around the country.

This is just further proof how far from doing their real jobs the media in this country has gone.  Simply tragic.

I have seen folks who could be considered to be very bad people due to their past histories and reputations do very heroic, kind, and wonderful things for others – doing bad stuff and doing good stuff are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Most people aren’t ‘all good’ or ‘all bad’, and Mr Ramsey deserves praise for helping those girls regardless of whatever shortcomings he may have elsewhere in his life. I don’t think Amanda Berry really GAF whether of not her RESCUER had a prison record when he got her and her baby outta that hell house.

Jennifer Rubin Tweets Boston Bombing Local Story

Not writing on Boston. It is a local crime story for now

Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin opened a can of worms yesterday afternoon after the news hit that a double bombing occurred near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.  She did this in response to the lefts argument on the lack of coverage in the Gosnell murder trial.  The left has bent over backwards to say that Gosnell is local story and didn’t warrant national coverage.

I actually was having a back and forth with someone on twitter over the weekend about this very topic, I asked her if the name Casey Anthony rang a bell, and also asked her to google the name Jodi Arias and see how many hits she gets.  Her response to me was only that she doesn’t waste her time engaging “antis”.  Well when you consider that this argument cannot be defended in any shape or form.  We have a long history as a country of giving criminal trials loads of media coverage, OJ and Charles Manson just to name two more.  It is a justification and a very poor one at that.

Was this in poor taste?  Yes, obviously it was.  But, there is truth in the point that she was trying to make.  Kermit Gosnell is on trial for 8 murders, seven of which were newborn babies who had their spinal cords cuts.  He committed acts of absolute barbarism, there is no other way to describe what he did.  The acts of Jeffrey Dahmer were put over the airwaves on a regular basis, and that too was a “local trial”.  There is one reason and one reason only that the Gosnell trial has not been widely reported, it is about abortion.  A sacred “right” to most people on the left.  If more people heard that this type of things are happening in this country on the scale that they are happening we just may have a “national discussion” on abortion rights.  The media have decided to protect that over doing their jobs.

If people hear this story, they just may put political pressure on state governments to more closely monitor abortion clinics.  If people hear this story they will ask themselves why were the complaints against this man ignored for so long?  If people hear this story they will ask how a clinic that was right out in the open and run by a man who was considered a good man in his community was allowed to run for so long.  If people hear this story they just may ask themselves why they support legal abortion.  If people hear the story of the baby that was screaming before being murdered they may just question the mantra of the left that abortion is not used as a form of birth control.  If people hear the joke reportedly made by Gosnell that one of the babies was large enough to walk him to the bus stop, they just may to look inside themselves and ask why this allowed to happen in this country.

People may just start to question the usual memes you are told about abortion.   Legal, safe, and rare.  One of the doctors that the prosecution put on the stand as an “expert” on abortion said he has performed 40,000 abortions during his 33 year practice.  There is nothing rare about that number.  That is a number that is hard to wrap your head around.  There is nothing safe about what Gosnell and his goons did.  Nor can this be considered “healthcare”, another one of the things that left trots out when talking about this topic.

People will have to ask themselves about the racial overtones to this story.  Gosnell, a black man, treated his white suburban “patients” differently and better than the minority poorer counterparts.  People may start to realize that abortion is actually big business in this country.  There is loads of money to be made.  There are people out there who profit at the hands of women who are making very difficult choices.  People may actually take a look at the documentary made about this case where women describe how they were told by Gosnell that abortion was a normal thing, ain’t no thing.  Have two, have five across your lifetime.  What’s the diff?  They will hear the women who were victims of Gosnell and how he isn’t being tried for things that he has done to most of them.

Again was this poor taste?  Yes, but only due to the timing.  But the bar was set last week by the left.  Apparently the “right” to abortion is more important than giving the people of this country the truth about abortion in this country.  If we start asking questions, they are afraid of the answers that some will come up with.

Sarah Palin’s new neighbor, Joe McGinniss

He’s writing a book about Sarah, and he’s rented the house next door. She’s not thrilled:

We found out the good news today. Upon my family’s return this morning from endorsement rallies and speeches in the Lower 48 states, I finally got the chance to tackle my garden and lawn this evening! So, putting on the shorts and tank top to catch that too-brief northern summer sun and placing a giddy Trig in his toddler backpack for a lawn-mowing adventure, I looked up in surprise to see a “new neighbor” overlooking my property just a stone’s throw away. Needless to say, our outdoor adventure ended quickly after Todd went to introduce himself to the stranger who was peering in…

Joe announced to Todd that he’s moved in right next door to us. He’s rented the place for the next five months or so. He moved up all the way from Massachusetts to live right next to us – while he writes a book about me. Knowing of his many other scathing pieces of “journalism” (including the bizarre anti-Palin administration oil development pieces that resulted in my Department of Natural Resources announcing that his work is the most twisted energy-related yellow journalism they’d ever encountered), we’re sure to have a doozey to look forward to with this treasure he’s penning. Wonder what kind of material he’ll gather while overlooking Piper’s bedroom, my little garden, and the family’s swimming hole?

Read the rest. Via Hot Air, where you’ll find a video of Glenn Beck’s reaction.

This just creeps me out. I wonder how long it will be before the Palin’s have to get a restraining order to keep him from going through their garbage.

He’s probably already been through her garbage. She must be the strongest woman in America.

and I know it’s Frank Rich but the idea that the only reason anyone is upset at anything in the healthcare bill is either 1) they want to gin up support for their political campaign (machiavellian Rove type maneuvers of the political class) or 2) they are hayseed rednecks who have a visceral hatred of anyone different than them is a destructive and frankly terribly limited way to think about the American people. It’s dismissive of all criticism as motivated by the very worst of human emotions.

People take offense and rightly so to being called bigots and racists because they oppose healthcare.

The 2,700 page bill has many things one should oppose: funding abortion, mandatory enrollment, IRS being given an expanded role of power to enforce. These are troubling things that deserve some reflection and consideration and maybe even criticism. Some of us think a bill with such unseemly large pork payoffs to Democratic friends and allies is a bad thing, an escalation in the pay for votes method of making law that corrupts the representative process by making the most powerful legislator not the most ethical but the one that holds out and then flips to get the biggest piece of pork pie. People also worry that a 1.3 Trillion dollar deficit might not be something we could overcome as a nation and the Democratic hegemony that is in charge is running forward writing checks as if nothing has happened or will happen. These are all legitimate reasons to be upset with the government that have nothing at all to do with the President’s race or Barney Frank’s proclivities or Nancy Pelosi’s gender. They don’t come up. They’re irrelevant.

To be dismissed by the writers of the media and the political ruling class as idiots because we don’t entirely agree….well that should make us mad. It is meant to insult and to silence. Shut up or you are a racist. Shut up or you are a bigot. Shut up or you are declared an idiot. Shut up or you will be eviscerated publicly as we did Sarah Palin and her family. Shut up or we will destroy you with words and make the world hate you.

I guess the best we can say in response is, we’ve been warned.

The Alinsky-style demonization and ridicule tactic isn’t working as they intended. With every attack, our numbers grow. The world does not hate us, and in fact, is fast-realizing that BO is an absolute disaster who is undermining world peace, including that in his own country. He’s fast becoming an object of global ridicule, except by tyrants like Castro and Chavez (and this, of course, causes many an eyebrow to raise the world over).

The crazy left here at home, however, do believe all the lies spewed, but how long will that go on? How long will our fellow countrymen and women willfully ignore their own two eyes and ears?
