Excuse Me Sir, I’m Looking for the Big Top…Holy Cats! We’re in a Warzone!

The U.S. military is axing several fast food vendors from their bases in Afghanistan.

The military is also cutting first run movies for the troops and chains dropped include Burger King, Pizza Hut, T.G.I. Friday’s, Orange Julius and Dairy Queen. Tom Horton’s Donuts would remain. I guess some seargeant who signed off on this likes his morning snackie.

Now I don’t have a problem with cutting surplus stuff in favor of needed equipment and that’s the line the military brass is saying, that items for these chains takes the place of essential items to combat outposts and forward operating bases, where troops who are in the fight each day need resupply with ammunition, food and water.

But I would say those famous words, If Bush did it….it would be small minded, mean spirited, anti-troop, cruel and bad for the troop morale to remove all tastes of home….

“This is a war zone — not an amusement park,” Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Hall has said about the military’s decision. In the immortal words of the man in black, Johnny Cash, “You think they forgot?”

I think things may be getting really serious over there. God Bless our troops. I am sure we should be allocating more funds to resupply them, upgrade our equipment and expand our military. That would be infrastructure and funds well spent for the future. Providing for the common defense, our first priority as a nation.

But we have Obama who does this war grudgingly.

I hope to God our men and women over there know they have our support. Let’s hope we get a sea change in Congress in the fall. And what about General Petraeus for President?

I don’t know enough about the General to be excited or not. I will say, he can handle the heat, having endured General Betrayus from the far left, but what I don’t want is the press picking our candidate in an American Idol horse race type style. Nor do I want someone who is “due” for a run. We’ve done that; McCain, Dole. Feh.
